IMAGING THE ORGANIZATION AND NEUROCHEMICAL CONTENT OF THE MOUSE BRAIN STEM USING THE 3D IMAGING TECHNIQUE CLARITY
Project no. 77 · Status: Kapanmış · 2016
Summary
Brainstem is an important part of the central nervous system that comprises over 150 nuclei and tracts that control many vital, autonomic and motor functions. The organization of the brainstem has been investigated in many resarch articles and atlases in the mouse, rat, rhesus monkey and human. Imaging the location of the neuronal groups here and their connectionsis important. In this project, for the first time, the nuclear organization of the mouse brainstem and their neurochemical contect has been investigated uisnh fluoresecent immunohistochemistry for gamma amino butiric acid (GABA), noradrenaline (NA), choline acetyl transferase (ChAT), serotonin, dopamine and glutamate neurotransmitters and neuronal marker neuronal specific nuclear protein (NeuN) and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) using a recently developed 3D imaging technique using CLARITY.
