Improvement Of Early And Yıeld Varıetıes Suıtable For The Ege Regıon Potato Clones Originated From Crossings In Potatoes

Project no. 20749 · Status: Kapanmış (Yayın bekleniyor) · 2019

Summary

The study was conducted in 2019-2021period in Ege University Faculty of Agriculture Department of Field Crops laboratory, greenhouse, seedbed and Menemen Research, Application and Production Farm field. Potato crosses were made to obtain early and yield potato clones in potato. The F1 seeds obtained from the crosses were grown in the pots in the greenhouse to obtain potato clones. These clones were grown in seedbed in 2020 and selection was applied according to disease, plant and tuber characteristics. The clones selected from the seedbed experiment were cultured in the meristem in in vitro and were sub cultured in nodal culture. Mini tubers were obtained by growing in vitro plants in the greenhouse. Mini tubers were grown in the field trial at Menemen Research, Application and Production Farm in 2021 and potato clones were evaluated. There were found statistically significant differences between potato clones for agronomical and yield characteristics. The highest mean for agronomical characteristics were obtained Clone 5-72; Clone 1-20; Clone 5-31; Clone 5-4; Clone 6-3; Clone 1-122; Clone 1-20; Clone 1-86; Clone 6-2 and Clone 1-107. The highest mean for tuber yield and earliness were obtained Clone 1-75; Clone 1-120; Clone 1-20 and Clone 1-107. In addition, in vitro propagation techniques have been suggested as an important advantage to basic seeds for potato breeding programs.
