Orthodontic Treatment: Finite Element Method Analysis of Dentoalveolar Effects of Space Opening Mechanisms

Project no. 28507 · Status: Kapanmış · 2023

Summary

In our study, a space-opening mechanism will be employed with the aim of reclaiming the lost space caused by the mesial tilting of the missing tooth #4 through the uprighting of teeth #3 and #5. Following leveling, open springs will be placed between teeth #3 and #5 to create the space-opening mechanism. The constant force 'F' applied by this mechanism will be exerted using different arch wires for equal durations. Concurrently, changes in the root-crown structures of adjacent teeth to the space left by the missing tooth #4 will be induced. The stresses occurring in the periodontal ligament and alveolar bone, along with the initial displacements in the root-crown structures, will be analyzed using finite element analysis.

Comparison of Arch Wires:

0.16 Ni-Ti

0.16 SS (Stainless Steel)

0.16*0.22 SS

Anticipated Results:

Distalization of teeth #5, #6, and #7

Mesialization of tooth #3

Protrusion of anterior teeth

Rotation of teeth #3 and #5

Parallel movement of teeth #3 and #5

Mesial crown and distal root movement in tooth #3

Mesial crown and stationary root movement in tooth #3

Distal crown and mesial root movement in tooth #5

Distal crown and stationary root movement in tooth #5
