Preparation of boron selective-biodegradable sorbent and investigation of its boron removal performance
Project no. 22167 · Status: Kapanmış · 2020
Summary
In this work, N-Methyl-D-glucamine-containing cellulose was prepared and applied for boron (B) removal from aqueous solutions. The effects of sorbent dose and initial solution pH on the removal of B were investigated. In addition, the B removal mechanism and reaction kinetics were determined by sorption isotherms and kinetic studies. The spectrometric Azomethine-H method has been applied to the determination of B in aqueous solutions. The optimum sorbent dose for B removal was found as 0.2 g, and the working pH range was ? 4. Kinetic studies showed that removal kinetics of B is fast and in 60 minutes, 70% of B removal achieved. Isotherm sorption data displayed a good correlation with the Langmuir model. Removal of B by prepared sorbent was a spontaneous process (?G<0). The N-Methyl-D-glucamine-containing cellulose can be regenerated with 0.5 M HCl or 0.1 M H2SO4 solution.
