LIFE CYCLES OF AMPHIPODA AND TRICHOPTERA SPECIES INHABITED YİĞİTLER CREEK (İZMİR).
Project no. 1172 · Status: Kapanmış · 2015
Summary
With this project it is aimed to have information about the life cycles of Amphipoda and Trichoptera species distributed in Yiğitler Creek. Field studies were conducted monthly between October 2015 and September 2016. The main reason for choosing the Yiğitler Creek for this study is the ecological status of environment is appropriate. Amphipoda and Trichoptera individuals were found in this locality, which was previously identified as ecologically less contaminated (Class II). As a result of counting 12-month sampling period of the amphipod species (Gammarus izmirensis Özbek, 2007), which forming the subject of the project, the measurements were made, 1938 individuals were investigated in total. Of them; 850 were females, 586 were males and 502 were juveniles. Considering the general view of the structure of the population of G. izmirensis individuals, in November and January, male individuals were represented by more individuals in the population, whereas female individuals were represented in June, August and September with more individuals. It is noteworthy that juvenile individuals were more common in March and August. 13 species belonging to 6 families belonging to Trichoptera, another team forming the project topic, were identified. Among species, the species of Philopotamus montanus (Donovan, 1813) was found to be 11 months during the 1-year sampling and it was determined that it was the most dominant species with a dominance value of 31.68%. This is followed by Hydropsyche fulvipes (Curtis, 1834) with 16.17% dominance. When the physico-chemical values measured in Yiğitler Stream are examined, it can be said that the water quality is in good condition. Water temperature values rise to around 22 ° C in summer and around 11 ° C in winter. Dissolved oxygen values in summer 8.5 mg / L as measured is the minimum value observed throughout the year. However, this value is measured in the hot summer months is quite a high value. The amount of oxygen dissolved in the winter season due to the feature that is inversely proportional to the temperature reached a maximum value and 10.8 mg / l up to the level. The pH and salinity values of the Yiğitler Stream are also relatively stable. While Salinity value was 0.0 ppt in winter and 0.1 ppt in other months. Similarly, pH values move in a narrow band of variation such as 8,14-8,22. Key words: Yiğitler Creek, Amphipoda, Trichoptera, Population dynamics, physico chemical.
