Denizel Ağ Kafes İşletmeleri Çevresinde Kullanılacak Akustik İzleme Sistemlerinin Performansının İncelenmesi
Project no. 20177 · Status: Kapanmış · 2016
Summary
Aquaculture production in sea cages is increasing rapidly all over the world. With increasing production, more sea-cages are moored in the oceans. Facilities of sea-cages serve as FADs (fish attractant device), attracting natural fish populations. The interaction between the wild fish populations and sea cages, as well as cultured fish escaping from the sea-cages, is very important in ecological terms. In general, acoustic telemetry systems are used in these scientific studies. The performance of acoustic receivers and transmitters around sea-cage systems is vital to the success of these operations. The aim of this study is to investigate the performance of acoustic telemetry systems to be used around the sea-cage systems. The performance of detecting signals from acoustic transmitters (range) and the parameters affecting this performance (physicochemical parameters, depth of receivers and direction of receivers etc.) are also included in the study. The study was carried out between 2017 and 2018 in a Aquaculture Farm in the Gülbahçe Bay of İzmir. Vemco VR2W acoustic receiver (69 kHz) and Vemco V9-2H, V13-1H, V13T-1H acoustic transmitters were used in the study. Physicochemical parameters were measured with YSI_6600 multi-parameter water quality sonde. A totally 5 915 261 signals from acoustic transmitters were recorded. The range of detecting signals from the transmitters was calculated as ?600 m. Receivers placed in water-column facing downwards have detected more signals than others. However, it was determined that the placement depth and direction of the receivers did not statistically affect the number of detections (p?0.05). This study, which is a first for our country, is expected to provide the necessary contribution to literature for future scientific studies around the sea-cage systems.
