Investigation of the effect of phosphate components addition as flame retardant in Resol resin production
Project no. 21758 · Status: Kapanmış (Yayın bekleniyor) · 2020
Summary

In this project, studies were carried out to increase the thermal stability of the resol resin. For this purpose, phosphate salts were used as additive in the study. Phosphoric acid was converted into phosphate salts at different pH values, such as Na2HPO4 or NaH2PO4, by a preliminary reaction with NaOH. During the production process of Resol, these phosphate salts were added to the reaction at the required steps and their effects on the thermal stability of the resol were investigated.

In this study, in the synthesis steps of the resole resin, the catalyst amount and phosphoric acid were synthesized without changing the mole ratio of the catalyst. The basic reaction medium formed after the reaction was adjusted with basic chemicals. Phosphoric additives and commonly used fire retardant agents were physically mixed with resole resin to determine the fire retardant property. The effects of reaction parameter were determined by measuring the use of phosphoric acid with sodium hydroxide in each step, its fire retardant property, XRF analysis, TGA analysis, melting point analysis, yield distance analysis and flame index.
