Synthesis and Characterization of Copper Complexes of Sugar-Based Chiral Ligands

Project no. 26307 · Status: Kapanmış · 2022

Summary

In this project, α-D-glucose and α-D-galactose were used as starting sugars. Initially, starting from D-glucose and D-galactose, 6-amino structure amino sugar derivatives (3-4) of these sugars were synthesized. Then, bi ON and ONO trident Schiff base ligands (3a-h, 4a-h) were prepared from the reaction of these amino sugars (3-4) with 2-hydroxybenzaldehyde derivatives. Cu(II) complexes of these ligands synthesized within the scope of the project were obtained as a result of the reaction of ONO tridentate Schiff base ligands (3a-h, 4a-h) with copper(II) acetate in ethanol at room temperature. Synthesized Schiff base derivatives were purified by column chromatography. The structures of the pure Schiff base ligands and their Cu(II) complexes were characterized by 1H-NMR, FT-IR, melting point determination and elemental analysis methods.
