Summary

In this master's thesis, composite anode materials were developed for lithium-ion batteries

by synthesizing different metal oxide compounds (MnO₂, NiO, V₂O₅) and combining them in

specific ratios with nitrogen-doped graphene oxide (N-GO) prepared via the modified

Hummers method. The morphological, chemical, and electrical properties of the synthesized

composites were characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray

photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), raman spectroscopy (RS), and

electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).Subsequently, graphite, graphene oxide (GO),

N-doped NiO/GO, N-doped V₂O₅/GO, N-doped MnO₂/GO, and N-doped binary NiO/V₂O₅/GO

composite materials were used as anode electrodes to fabricate prototype lithium-ion battery

cells. The performance tests of the prototypes were conducted under laboratory conditions.

When the charge/discharge capacities, cycle performance, and cyclic voltammograms of the

lithium-ion battery anode test cells were compared, it was found that the N-GO/NiO/V₂O₅

hybrid composite anode (20 wt% N-GO, 40 wt% NiO, 40 wt% V₂O₅) delivered an initial

capacity of approximately 350 mAh/g at a low current density (1 mA) and was still able to

retain around 100 mAh/g even after 50 cycles at a high current density (10 mA). These results

demonstrate that the hybrid structure provides superior properties in terms of ion conductivity

and structural stability.
