DETERMINATION OF PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF FABRICS PRODUCED FROM SPECIAL ANIMAL FIBER/COTTON BLENDS

Summary
Since it is a natural fiber, it is skin-friendly, soft, high moisture-absorbing, hygienic and has many other features and it is the most widely used fiber in the world. In addition to these advantages, when used in combination with other fibers, they can exhibit different handling and comfort properties and enable the production of higher added value products. Innovative, high value-added materials can be produced by using new and different materials. The special animal fibers which can be used for this purpose are generally spun into long staple spinning. In particular, luxury fibers cannot be spun with short staple spinning due to their low fiber retention. In this project, cotton-luxury fiber blend yarns were produced by using luxury fibers such as mohair, cashmere, angora and silk, and then these yarns were transformed into knitted fabrics and these fabrics were tried to be examined in addition to their dimensional, mechanical, hand and surface properties. It is thought that the results to be obtained with this study will constitute an important database for the Turkish Textile and Apparel Industry, which has a chance to compete with the production of innovative products in the global market.
