The Effect of Heat Stress on Some Physiological and Biochemical Values and Hormone Levels in Saanen Goats Raised in Semi-Intensive Conditions
Project no. 22162 · Status: Kapanmış · 2020
Summary
This study was carried out to draw attention to the climate crisis experienced all over the world and to determine the negative effects of heat stress, which is one of the inevitable consequences of this crisis, on dairy goats. Research material; three groups were formed from 30 Saanen goats as young, middle and old. In May, June, July and August, some physiological parameters of these groups were followed and blood samples were taken. Some hormonal and biochemical values, which are thought to be important in terms of heat stress, were examined from the obtained plasma and serum samples. Of these; T3 (triiodothyronine), T4 (thyroxine), cortisol hormone, HSP70 with Heat Shock Protein, betahydroxybutyric acid (BHBA), non-esterified fatty acid (NEFA), aspartataminotransferase (AST), gamagglutamyltransferase (GGT), total protein (TP), urea (BUN) ), creatinine (CREA), lactate levels were determined. As a result, the effects of age and heat stress on the examined features were found to be statistically significant (P<0.05). With the said study, the negative effects of heat stress, which is one of the leading climatic threats in the world, on animals were emphasized once again. Current solution strategies for global warming are mentioned. Keywords: Saanen goat, heat stress, T4, HSP70, BHBA
