Comparison of Immediate Implant Placement and Restoration With and Without Connective Tissue Graft
Project no. 32447 · Status: Kapanmış (Yayın bekleniyor) · 2024
Summary

The success of treating edentulous areas following tooth extraction with implant-supported prostheses has been well established and has been widely applied for many years. Immediate implant placement following tooth extraction and immediate restoration performed in the same session are preferred treatment approaches, as they minimize the duration of edentulism and the number of surgical interventions, while preserving and shaping the peri-implant tissues.

The aim of this study is to compare the effects of immediate implant placement and restoration with and without the use of a connective tissue graft on peri-implant soft and hard tissues in the anterior maxilla.

A total of 28 patients who require tooth extraction in the anterior maxillary region and request implant-supported prosthetic rehabilitation following extraction will be included in the study. In all patients, immediate implant placement will be performed following atraumatic tooth extraction. After implant placement, patients will be randomly assigned to either the test group (n = 14) or the control group (n = 14). In the test group, a connective tissue graft harvested from the palatal region will be placed on the buccal aspect of the implant site. Subsequently, implant-supported provisional restorations using resin composite will be fabricated in both the test and control groups to facilitate soft tissue contouring.

Clinical measurements, radiographic evaluations, and intraoral imaging will be performed in both groups before tooth extraction (T0) and at 1, 3, and 6 months postoperatively.

The study will evaluate whether the application of a connective tissue graft in conjunction with immediate implant placement and restoration has positive effects on peri-implant bone resorption, soft tissue dimensional changes or recession, and papilla height. The results of this study will provide insight into the necessity of using a connective tissue graft together with immediate implant placement and immediate restoration following tooth extraction in the anterior region, where esthetic rehabilitation is most critical.
