Synthesis, characterization and Antimicrobial Studies of New Azo-Schiff bases derived from Amino acids and 2-hydroxy-1-Naphthaldehyde

Project no. 21656 · Status: Kapanmış · 2020

Summary

In this thesis, the amino acids L-methionine, L-isoleucine, D-Phenylglycine, L-Phenylalanine and L-valine were synthesized with N-t-butoxycarbonyl amino acid derivatives from each amino acid. Schiff bases and azo Schiff bases were synthesized by the reaction of these derivatives with 2-hydroxy-1-naphthadehyde / salicylaldehyde. In the first step of the synthesis, amino acids were reacted with di-tertiary butyl dicarbonate in order to protect the amino functional group in the amino acids. In the second step, the amino acids containing protective groups were reacted with m-phenylenediamine in the presence of N, N'- dicyclohexylcarbodiimide to give chiral amide derivatives. As a result of the reaction of synthesized chiral amide derivatives with 2-hydroxy-1-naphthalene, Schiff bases containing different amino acids were obtained. In another stage of this thesis, the synthesized chiral amide derivatives were used in the synthesis of azo Shiff bases containing salicyldehyde and aniline. Azo Schiff bases were synthesized by the reaction of chiral amide derivatives with diazo derivatives obtained from the reaction of aniline and salicyldehyde compounds. Melting point determination, spectroscopic (IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR) and elemental analysis methods were used in the structure analysis studies of the products.
