RESEARCH OF APPLYING CARBON DERIVED FROM VARIOUS WASTES ON TEXTILES, THEIR USE IN ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES, AND APPLICATIONS REQUIRING ELECTRICAL CONDUCTIVITY
Project no. 20740 · Status: Kapanmış · 2019
Summary

It is getting more crucial to design research and production processes with minimum energy, water, and waste to solve the problems caused by the increasing world population and improper consumption habits. From this point of view, the presentation of green metrics may encourage researchers and producers to find more environmentally friendly processes and materials in a comparable platform. Process Efficiency Factor (PEF) and eco-cube concepts are presented in the literature for the first time in the green metric's category. In addition to PEF, Specific Energy, Process Mass Intensity (PMI), Specific Shielding Effectiveness (SSE),

and SSE per thickness (SSE/t) are presented to draw attention to the importance of these issues. The approach developed during this study from a green engineering perspective can be described as one-step wet carbonization-activation in microwave using self-gas, self-steam. The obtained products were characterized by Raman, XRD, FT-IR, XPS, CHNS, TGA, SEM, BET analyzes. The effects of sulphuric acid, microwave post-treatment on pore structure, conductivity and shielding effectiveness were analysed. Carbonised nonwoven and hemp both have a 20-30 dB range of EMI effectiveness which means nearly % 99.9 shielding level at 1-6 GHz. Activated carbons produced by this method can be used various applications that need electrical conductivity in green buildings or in reinforcing composites
