Effects of Biochar Treatments on Nutrient Composition of Maize Plants

Project no. 21330 · Status: Kapanmış · 2019

Summary

A pot experiment was conducted in randomized plots design with 3 replicates. Hido silage maize (Zea mays L.) cultivar was treated with 5 different doses (0, 1, 2, 3 and 6 t/da) of biochar obtained at 3 different temperatures (300, 500 and 700 °C) in 45 pots (3x5x3) to investigate the effects of biochar treatments on green herbage nutritional composition, plant fresh and dry weights. Total N values of biochar varied between 2.17 - 2.87% with the greatest value from 300°C biochar and the lowest value from 700°C biochar treatments. Phosphorus (P) contents varied between 0.18 - 0.49% with the greatest and the lowest values from 700°C biochar treatments. Potassium (K) contents varied between 2.03 - 3.88% with the greatest value from 700°C biochar and the lowest value from 500°C biochar treatments. Calcium (Ca) contents varied between 0.15 - 0.48% with the greatest value from 700°C biochar and the lowest value from 300°C biochar treatments. Magnesium (Mg) contents varied between 0.24 - 0.52% with the greatest value from 700°C biochar treatments. Sodium (Na) contents varied between 171.63 - 314.93 mg/kg with the greatest value from 700°C biochar and the lowest value from 500°C biochar treatments. Iron (Fe) contents varied between 57.49 - 121.11 mg/kg with the greatest and the lowest values from 700°C biochar treatments. Zinc (Zn) contents varied between 21.88 - 51.12 mg/kg with the greatest value from 700°C biochar and the lowest value from 300°C biochar treatments. Copper (Cu) contents varied between 6.11 - 9.97 mg/kg with the greatest value from 700°C biochar and the lowest value from 300°C biochar treatments. Manganese (Mn) contents varied between 29.37-53.36 mg/kg with the greatest value from 700°C biochar treatments. Boron (B) contents varied between 22.90 - 48.80 mg/kg with the greatest and the lowest values from 300°C biochar treatments. Plant biomass fresh weight varied between 146.67 - 283.52 g and biomass dry weights varied between 15.82 - 36.32 g with the greatest values from 700°C biochar and the lowest values from 300°C biochar treatments.
