MAGNETICALLY EXCITED PHOTONIC CRYSTAL FIBER TEMPORARY LONG PERIOD GRATING

Project no. 772 · Status: Kapanmış · 2016

Summary

Photonic crystal fibers are a new generation of optical waveguides that have significant advantages with their structure and properties different from classical optical fibers. They have the potential for development that can have significant impacts on future technologies. It has many advantages over conventional optical fibers. On the other hand, magnetic fluids are materials that have gained importance recently and are increasingly popular in research and use. In this study, transmission parameters of photonic crystalline fiber, which has a solid core, by injecting 2 different magnetic fluids into the cladding air holes, have been investigated. When an external magnetic field is applied, the changes in the important transmission parameters of the photonic crystal fiber whose holes are filled with magnetic fluid are investigated. The effective refractive index of fundamental mode, fiber transmission losses and effective mode area changes depending on the magnetic field have been revealed. When 2 different magnetic fluids are used separately in photonic crystal fiber, the change in transmission loss depending on the intensity of magnetic field applied is demonstrated by simulation and experimental study.
