Summary

Entrepreneurship in occupations such as Midwifery in the field of health care; in line with the training received, it can be defined as starting a business and developing a business in order to take risks, pursue opportunities, and implement them by going beyond the standard work plan. Few midwives who have completed their undergraduate education in our country are working independently. Although midwives have the right to use their independent powers and to open a clinic, it is seen that they need motivation in entrepreneurship. This study is an educational-intervention study planned to investigate the effect of entrepreneurship training given to midwifery students on the process of finding and hiring. Between June 2017 and December 2019, it was conducted with 4th grade midwifery students. The data were obtained by using a descriptive questionnaire and “Scale of University Students Entrepreneurship”. Entrepreneurship training was given to the students in the intervention group, and the employment and recruitment processes were questioned 6 months after graduation. In the data obtained; the chi-square test was performed with percentage distributions (significance level p <0.05). It was found that the students in the intervention and control groups were similar in terms of family characteristics and individual characteristics (p> 0.05). The intervention group students who received entrepreneurship training found work in a longer period than the control group students. After graduation; it was determined that 78.8% of the students in the intervention group worked in the public hospital and 61.2% of the students in the control group worked in the private hospital. It was determined that the scale score of those who had a career goal of “free midwifery” and who were known as “friendly and helpful” in their environment was found to be significantly higher. The fact that entrepreneurship is a theoretical course is thought to affect students' motivation positively. Key Words: Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneur, Midwife, Entrepreneurship Education
