Evaluation of the Effect of Classroom Ergonomic Conditions on the Quality of Education of Dental Students
Project no. 344 · Status: Kapanmış · 2016
Summary
The aim of this study is to determine the level of satisfaction of the 3rd and 4th-year students in Ege University Faculty of Dentistry related to the current physical conditions of the classrooms used and to investigate the physical structure effects on the students. The current status of ventilation conditions in Ege University Faculty of Dentistry classrooms and the factors affecting the success of the students were determined. A questionnaire consisting of 9 different questions was prepared to determine the thermal comfort conditions. By determining the satisfaction level of the students with the physical quality of the classrooms, air-conditioning systems have been made to increase the students' success and motivation. During the course, the status of the students was compared with the photos taken before and after the ventilation system in the classrooms. In the questionnaire applied to the students; The students were asked to answer nine questions prepared before the application of the ventilation system. After the ventilation system was constructed, the same questionnaire was repeated and the differences between the answers given by the students were examined. The data obtained from the questionnaires measuring the students' satisfaction level from the classrooms were examined by using the non-parametric Chi-Square, McNemar tests in the SPSS program after the establishment of the ventilation system to the classes. According to the answers given to the question that ‘What about the fresh air in your class?’ 140 people before the ventilation system was made negative after the ventilation system done by 113 of them turned to positive. A statistically significant difference was found in terms of fresh air satisfaction. The 120 negative responses to the question that ‘How do you evaluate your current environment in terms of thermal comfort?’ is 86 of them were changed as positive. It has also been seen in the answers given to similar questions in the questionnaire that the construction of the ventilation system contributed to the statistically significant positive change. However, only; There is no statistically significant change in the question that the number of people studying in classrooms. In general, all questions in the survey are evaluated; While only 8.5% of the positive responses to the questions were recorded before the ventilation systems were made, this rate increased to 81.7% in the questionnaires after the ventilation systems were made and a statistically significant positive change was observed. It was seen that the students who were studying at the faculty of dentistry were not satisfied enough in terms of thermal comfort before the construction of the ventilation system, and thermal comfort could be achieved together with the air conditioning system.
