The evaluation of coagulation system in thyroid dysfunction with thromboelastography
Project no. 9 · Status: Kapanmış · 2015
Summary
It has been shown that there were changes in the factors taking role in the coagulation system in thyroid dysfunction state which are hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. In this study, thromboelastogarphy (TEG) method was choosen to evaluate hemostasis globally instead of investigating one or more factors regarding coagulatiton system. Twenty patients with subclinical hypothyroidism, 15 patients with over hypothyroidism, 5 patients with subclinical hyperthyroidism, 10 patients with over hyperthyroidism were recruited. As TEG variables; mean R value was 3.8 min, 4.1 min, 3.9 min, 4.3 min, 4.0 min in control, subclinical hypothyroidism, overt hypothyroidism, subclinical hyperthyroidism, overt hyerthyroidism, respectively. Mean K value was 1.3 min, 1.6 min, 1.7 min, 1.2 min, 1.3 min in control, subclinical hypothyroidism, overt hypothyroidism, subclinical hyperthyroidism, overt hyerthyroidism, respectively. Mean angle value was 71.4 degree, 72 degree, 74 degree, 73.1 degree, 75.3 degree in control, subclinical hypothyroidism, overt hypothyroidism, subclinical hyperthyroidism, overt hyerthyroidism, respectively. Mean MA value was 58 mm, 44.4 mm, 52 mm, 56 mm, 58 mm in control, subclinical hypothyroidism, overt hypothyroidism, subclinical hyperthyroidism, overt hyerthyroidism, respectively. Mean LY30 value was %0.1, %0.4, %0.2, %0.6, %0.3 in control, subclinical hypothyroidism, overt hypothyroidism, subclinical hyperthyroidism, overt hyerthyroidism, respectively. When the gorups with thyroid dysfunciton and euthyroid group were compared, there was no statistically signicant difference regarding TEG parameters (p>0.05). Further studies with greater number of patients are needed.
