PLGA Wound Dressing With Silver Nanoparticles Encapsulated With Licorice Root
Project no. 75588 · Status: Kapanmış · 2022
Summary

The importance given to wound healing studies is increasing day by day. In wound dressings used in wound healing, natural materials as well as synthetic polymers are frequently used. Nanofiber wound dressings are developed by using various polymers and adding different active agents to the polymers during the production phase. Nanofiber wound dressings have many advantages in terms of their use in wounds. For this reason, in this study, silver nanoparticle doped PLGA (ME-AgNP/PLGA) nanofiber wound dressings containing licorice extract were

produced by electro-spinning method. The properties of nanofibers produced in different groups were compared and their contribution to wound healing in vitro was evaluated. Green synthesis method was used to produce licorice-containing silver nanoparticles (ME-AgNP). The morphological, chemical, antibacterial and antioxidant properties of the nanofibers were analyzed. The effectiveness of the nanofibers, which were determined to be antibacterial, on wound healing in an in vitro cell line was evaluated. Wound closure rates were evaluated by taking

photographs of cell lines with wound scratch models under a microscope at 3 hour intervals. According to the results obtained, the group showing the fastest wound closure was ME-AgNP/PLGA nanofibers. As a result of these studies, it was determined that PLGA nanofibers with silver nanoparticles containing licorice extract can accelerate the wound healing process.
