MODELING THE DRYING OF GRAPE WASTE

Project no. 416 · Status: Kapanmış · 2018

Summary

The food and agriculture industry is one of the world's largest and most important branches of industry, and one of the main problems this sector is facing is the waste generated. It has been reported that the almost half of the vegetables and fruits produced in Turkey are waste or lost in various parts of the food life cycle. Depending on the amount and characteristics of the wastes, it has the potential to be used in the production of another product, in the production of a new and high value-added product, or in the production of energy as biomass. Grape, which is one of the most produced and consumed fruits in the world, is mostly consumed by processing and as a result, various wastes such as seeds, pulp, peel and stem are produced. In this project, drying characteristics of the stem parts of the grape were determined by performing drying experiments at 3 different temperatures and 2 different air velocity conditions, and the obtained data were analyzed using Microsoft Excel and MatLab programs, and the model that best expresses the drying behavior for each condition was determined.
