Özet

In this thesis study, different electrode surfaces with high catalytic efficiency, selectivity and sensitivity to analytes have been developed. Due to the limitations of conventional electrodes in applications, a new electrode material designed with conductive polymer film and metal nanoparticles, which has properties such as effective surface area and high conductivity, was used in these electrodes. In addition, doped graphite materials were synthesised and mixed with polymer in certain ratios and used as electrode materials.

In this thesis consisting of two parts, firstly, metal nanoparticles and modified polyeriochrome black T (polyEBT) coated electrodes were prepared for the selective and sensitive determination of arsenic. The electrochemical behaviour of arsenic at the modified electrode was investigated in 0.75 mol L-1 HCl medium and its application to real samples was carried out in three different commercially available mineral waters. The oxidation peak current of arsenic at AuNPs/pEBTox/GCE showed a linear change in the range 0.10 - 10.0 μmol L-1 and the limit of detection was 0.077 μmol L-1 (S/N=3).

In the second study, n-butylamine doped graphite material was synthesised. 0.03 g of the prepared n-BA/Graphite was suspended in 1 mL DMF and dropped onto the surface of poly 4-aminophenol modified GCE and simultaneous selective and sensitive determinations of Sunset Yellow (SY) and Tartrazine (Tz) were performed. In n-BA/G/PPAP/GCE, the oxidation peak current for SY varied linearly in the range 0.006 - 1.0 µmol L-1 and the oxidation peak current for Tz varied linearly in the range 0.06 - 10.0 µmol L-1. The limit of detection was 0.0026 µmol L-1 and 0.025 µmol L-1 for SY and Tz, respectively (S/N=3). SY and Tz were determined by standard addition method in syrup, powdered beverage and sugar samples.

Surface characterisations of the prepared metal nanoparticle modified polymer film and doped graphite modified polymer film electrodes were carried out by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray photo electron spectroscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, electrochemical impedance, Raman spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopic techniques.
