DETERMINATION OF NITROGEN FRACTIONS OF CONCENTRATE FEEDS USED FOR DAIRY COWS ND BEEF CATTLE NUTRITION ACCORDING TO CORNELL NET CARBONHYDRATE AND PROTEIN MODEL

Project no. 320 · Status: Kapanmış · 2015

Summary

The aim of this project is to determine the nitrogen (N) fractions of the concentrate feed used in the feeding of dairy cow and beef cattle according to Cornell Net Carbohydrate and Protein Model (CNCPS). For this purpose, both in powder and pellet form of three dairy cow concentrate feeds (SSY19, SSY20 and SSY21) and two beef cattle feeds (SBY and SBBY) were obtained from different feed mills of the Aegean Region (n=10). In the first stage of CNCPS, the chemical fractions of crude protein: A (NPN) and true protein B (B1, B2 and B3) fractions according to feed flow rate coefficients from rumen and the unavailable protein ADIP (C fraction) were calculated. These fractions were used to calculate the degradable intake protein (DIP) values at the 3x rumen outflow rate coefficients (kp) at the different intake levels (kd) of the B fractions and then the undegradable intake protein values (UIP) were calculated 100-DIP. The CP fractions of concentrate feeds (g/kg DM) were significant A = NPN and B2 fractions in the form of powder and A = NPN fraction in the form of pellet (p <0.05). In powder form SSY19 and SSY21 had the highest A = NPN, SSY20 and SSY21 had the highest B2 fraction, pellet form SBY had the highest A = NPN (p<0.05). Both DIP3x and UIP3x values of SSY21 with the highest HP content in both of powder and pellet form are significantly different and higher than others (p<0.05). It can be said that in the Aegean region, high protein concentrate feeds with high rumen degradable and undegradable protein content are prepared and suitable for feeding high yielding dairy cows. In further studies, it is advisable to investigate methane release and rumen degradability of feeds based on the farm level in addition to N fractions of in vitro.
