FISHERIES OF SIGANUS SPECIES AND DETERMINATION OF SOME BIOLOGICAL PARAMETERS IN GÖKOVA BAY

Summary
This study was conducted to gather information about hunting methods, length distributions, length-weight relationships, growth and reproduction of commercially important lesepsian rabbit fishes. The study was conducted in Gökova Bay, Muğla. Fish samples were obtained from small scale fishing (trammel net), pots and angling between July 2016 and June 2018. A total of 721 Siganus rivulatus and 57 Siganus luridus were captured. Length weight relationship was found to be W = 0.00941L3.0828 (R2 = 0.958) in Siganus rivulatus and W = 0.0045L3.4438 (R2 = 0.975) in Siganus luridus. Some population parameters of Siganus rivulatus was calculated as follows; L? = 29.13 cm, W? = 307.18 g, k = 0.162 y-1 and t0 = -0.47 y (a = 3.24 b = -0.20, R2 = 0.991). It was determined that age of the stock ranged from 1 to years. Spawning of Siganus rivulatus occured between May and August. Due to insufficient number of Siganus luridus and the species could not be obtained routinely, k and t0 parameters could not be calculated.
