TOPOLOGICAL OPTIMIZATION OF AVIATION PARTS BY REVERSE ENGINEERING APPLICATIONS

Project no. 1319 · Status: Kapanmış · 2018

Summary

In today's technology, manufacturers with an intense competitive global market nee Product businesses invest in CAD - CAM (computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing), rapid prototyping, and new technologies that provide business benefits for this purpose are constantly looking for new ways to shorten delivery times in marketing a new product. Reverse engineering is now considered one of the technologies that provide business benefits in shortening the product development cycle and can be applied in many different areas. When it is used in the field of reverse engineering machinery, it is generally applied to parts that have been retired or benchmarked. Studies on further improvement of the part, which is mostly reverse engineered, follow this process. Especially in the aviation industry, the development of optimized products is of great importance. One of the biggest requirements in the aviation industry, which is so intertwined with today's technology, is to prevent energy, cost and time losses by topological optimization of existing parts. In this study, a CAD (computer-aided solid model) model was produced using a threedimensional hand-held structured light scanner with reverse engineering approach of a link arm used in helicopters in the aviation field and providing load and motion transfer. After, this solid model was exposed to loads under operating conditions and topologically optimized with the help of Ansys package program.
