COMPARATIVE EVALUATION OF THE TREATMENT EFFECTIVENESS OF EXTERNAL CHEST WALL SUPPORT IN CASES WITH RIB FRACTURES
Project no. 21736 · Status: Kapanmış · 2020
Summary
Rib fractures occur in 60-80% of chest traumas. Pain due to fractures and deterioration of chest wall stabilization can lead to various complications. In this research, "Chrisofix External Fixator" fixation orthosis was applied to the experimental group in the form of external adhesion to the rib fracture area, together with standard medical treatment, and only standard medical treatment was applied to the control group. Although there was a greater decrease in the pain level of the patients on the 10th day and 1st month on average in the experimental group, no statistically significant difference was found. When examined in terms of the number of complications, significantly lower complication numbers were observed in the experimental group in which Chrisofix External Fixator was applied. Results have shown that the external chest fixator is superior to the standard treatment in the development of complications. The use of external fixator is a method that can be applied in addition to standard medical treatment in the management of patients with rib fractures, increasing the patient's comfort and reducing complications.
