Determination Of Changes Of Amphetamine And Its Derivatives In Urine In The Presence Of Vitamın C By Immunoassay And GC/MS

Project no. 23574 · Status: Kapanmış (Yayın bekleniyor) · 2022

Summary

Adding vitamin C externally in solid form or consuming large amounts of vitamin C may lead to false negative results due to changes in urine pH. Amphetamine-type stimulants (ATS) are a group of stimulant substances of synthetic origin, the main members of which are amphetamine (AMP), methamphetamine (MET) and ecstasy (MDMA). The use of ATS is quite common in the world and in our country.

Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) in solid and liquid form and urine samples were used. Immunoassay was used for the preliminary screening step and GC-MS was used for the confirmation step. The test results were statistically evaluated with SPSS program. When the values obtained for AMP, MET and MDMA in solid and liquid form were statistically evaluated, it was determined that the presence of high concentrations of vitamin C in urine in solid or liquid form caused a high rate of false negativity. In the analyses performed by GC-MS, there was no regular increase or decrease in the field values, ATS group substances could be detected despite vitamin C, but some difficulties were experienced during the study due to pH differences.
