ENHANCEMENT OF FIRE RETARDANCY OF COTTON FABRICS

Project no. 1237 · Status: Kapanmış · 2016

Summary

Most textile products have good combustion properties. Use of these products in all areas of life is a risk factor for fire. With the industrialization, the production of textile products and its consumption increased. The increase in the production areas of these fabrics also increases the number of risks. Therefore, the use of heat and flame retardant textile products is inevitable. In particular, the continuous exposure of people working in this area has increased the importance of flame-retardant textile products For this reason, with non-toxic gas content and high burning temperature fibers began to produced. Cotton is the most widely used product in the textile industry. The widespread use of cotton fabrics has resulted in the production of light, clean-resistant and environmentally friendly fabrics. The aim of this project is to improve the resistance of cotton fabrics to combustion and to improve of these the products. The first part of the study is occupational health and safety and problems in the textile field. In the second part, chemical properties of cotton fiber, flame retardancy in textile products and production methods of these fabrics are discussed. Chemical studies were carried out on flame retardancy and recommendations were made on which would be the most appropriate application.
