Project no. 753 · Status: Kapanmış · 2016

Summary

Climate changes with increasing population lead to a decrease in limited natural resources. The tannery process consists of different amount of solid waste or waste water depending type of the quality and quantity of the leather products and their product technologies. It is very important to manage wastewater and other wastes in accordance with the regulations and to monitor the characteristics of the water supplied to the receiving environment. For this purpose, chemical characteristics of the waste water discharges was determined regular intervals from Ege University Department of Leather Engineering Research and Implementation Plant and was adopted an eco-environment management. Thus the study suggests that well monitored and maneged combined treatment process, i.e., filtration, coagulation and biological purification could be promising in order to reduce pollutants from the tannery effluents according to the legislation of waste water. In addition, the chemical wastes generated by the analyses in the Department of Leather Engineering Laboratories and the wastes in the offices (mercury-containing fluorescent lamps) was classified and regulated hazardous is made by employees of the waste disposal licenced firm.
