Clinical and histological comparison of Mukoderm® and connective tissue graft used to increase soft tissue thickness around the implants

Project no. 378 · Status: Kapanmış · 2017

Summary

Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of xenogenic acellular dermal matrix on thickening soft tissue biotype. Materials and Methods: To 12 participants with teeth deficiency in 2 different areas in the mouth, xenogenic acellular dermal matrix (test group, 12 implants) and connective tissue graft (control group, 12 implants) were placed randomly. Initial and post-operative 3rd month keratinized tissue width (KTW), vertical soft tissue thickness (VSTT) were recorded. In the 3rd month, biopsy samples were taken from the relevant regions. Results: The study was completed with 12 patients in the age range of 30-52 years with a mean age of 41.41 ± 8.32. In both groups, KTW and VSTT were found to be significantly higher compared to baseline in the 3rd month evaluation. In biopsies, xenogenic acellular dermal matrix was found to be completely resorbed in the 3rd month. Conclusion: Within the limitations of this study, it is concluded that xenogenic acellular dermal matrix can be used for vertical soft tissue thickening successfully. In addition, the short-term results of xenogenic acellular dermal matrix is similiar with connective tissue graft in increasing the peri-implant VSTT.
