Summary

The main areas that provide the most suitable growing conditions for the stone pine, which is an essential species in terms of its fruit, are İzmir Bergama-Kozak, Aydın-Koçarlı regions. The total pine area of Kozak region is 16.000 hectares. After Kozak region, the place with the highest pine area is Aydın-Kocarlı (Mazon) with an area of 10,000 hectares. In recent years, there has been a significant decrease in seed production with the loss of cones in many regions of our country, especially in the Kozak region. There may be different reasons for this low yield. Since one of them is thought to be the nutritional deficiency of the trees, the leaf nutrient contents of the pine trees in İzmir-Bergama and Aydın-Koçarlı regions were investigated. For this study, one-two and three-year-old needle samples were taken from the top 1/3 of the tree crown and the light-exposed branches in 2 different periods, in May, when one-year cones (cone) began to form, and in October, which is the casting time of one-year cones. At the end of the analysis, differences were found between regions and trees. In addition, there were differences between the ages of the needles in terms of the examined characteristics. However, no significant deficiencies were detected in trees in terms of nutrients. As the vegetation period progressed, there was an increase in the amount of calcium and magnesium elements in all areas, while decreases in other macro and micro nutrient elements occurred. Similarly, as the needle age increased, a decrease was found in all nutritional elements except calcium and magnesium. At the end of the analysis, some differences were found between regions and trees in terms of nutrient content. However, no significant deficiencies were detected in trees in terms of nutrients.
