Data Journalism as an Example of New Generation Journalism and Its Applications

Summary
The sector of journalism is one of the most quickly affected sectors from the point of technological changes and developments. Internet technologies, which have become an important part of daily life especially since the 1990s, caused a radical change in sector of journalism. Analyzing the billions of visual and textual content which are uploaded to the digital environment, collecting of consisting big data, news production with these datas, utilizing of new technological tools, tracking and using software which developed for internet environment, has led to necessity of possessing new equipment for journalists in many subjects such as web publishing. Purpose of this study is, investigation of the processes of data journalism which is one of the new journalism practices, examination of the work carried out in Turkey and in the world on this issue and to enable students to realize this new generation of journalism practices in the Internet Journalism workshop with computers which are provided by project budget and in company with academics, as a result of the findings.
