Summary
Phenol is a compound which is considered as a toxic chemical being found in the discharged wastewater of many heavy industries such as refineries and phenols causes the problem of taste and smell in the discharged water. Phenol and phenolic derivatives are among the best known aromatic compounds that are dangerous due to their teratogenic, toxic, carcinogenic and mutagenic properties and it is important to detract it from the environment. In the thesis study, effective microorganism cultures with biodegradabilitywere selected from phenol and various phenolic compound samples taken from the wastewater treatment unit of PETKİM Petrokimya Holding incorporated company and Evka-3 Garage sludge, and the isolation, identification and determination of their degradation efficiencies were carried out. Isolated three types Lactococcus garvieae, Microbacterium sp., and Brevundimonas sp. have been determined and biodegradation efficiencies were evaluated by HPLC analysis. As a result of the experiments, biodegradation efficiency For phenol was shown as 100 percent of Lactococcus garvieae at 30 degress, 100 percent of Microbacterium sp. At 25 degrees , and 100 percent of Brevundimonas sp accordingly. As a result of the analyses for the phenolic compound 2.4 DNP, it has been determined that Microbacterium sp. shows biodegradation efficiency for 100 percent at 25 degrees.
