Investigation of Seed to Seedling Transition of Tomato Mosaic Tobamovirus (TOMV) in Tomato Seed Samples

Summary
90 tomato seed samples (55 standarts, 35 hybrids) were obtained from seed establishments in our country and tested for the presence of ToMV infection by serological and molecular test methods. ToMV infection in hybrid tomato seed samples was 11% and ToMV infection in standard tomato seed samples was 15%. From these tested seeds, standard and hybrid tomato seed samples highly infected with ToMV were selected to determine the transition from seed to seedling. As a result of DAS-ELISA tests, ToMV infection was determined as 10% in hybrid tomato seeds and 13% in standard tomato seeds.
