Development of an Artificial Foot Model for Breathability Control in Footwear
Project no. 22827 · Status: Kapanmış (Yayın bekleniyor) · 2021
Summary

In this study, an artificial foot system has been developed for use in breathability tests of footwear. The real foot-like temperature and sweating mechanism of the artificial foot is provided by sensitive release infusion pumps and heat resistance with probe. By placing the sweating and temperature system inside the artificial foot, the space between the foot and the shoe was designed to be most similar to the internal environment of the subjects during shoe wearing trials. Humidity and temperature values of the foot areas inside the shoe were observed through sensors placed on the artificial foot in the space between the foot and the shoe. For this purpose, the increase in temperature and humidity values that would disturb the feet in the shoe areas was calculated. In addition, the weights of shoes, socks and footbed were checked before and after the test and their weight changes were calculated. As a result, an artificial foot device has been developed to be used in measuring the breathability of finished shoes, which can simulate the real foot, measure the humidity and temperature in the internal environment of the shoe, and does not damage the shoe during the test.
