IDENTIFICATION OF SOME YIELD AND YIELD COMPONENTS IN ADVANCED BREAD WHEAT (Triticum aestivum L.) LINES
Project no. 1030 · Status: Kapanmış · 2017
Summary
In this study, it was aimed that determination of yield and yield components of advanced bread wheat populations and lines which are at F5 and F9 generation stages, respectively selected from different cross combinations. Five F5 populations (Line x Tester) and six F9 lines (Cumhuriyet x Basribey) which were improved by the Breeding Team of Ege University, Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Field Crops were used as plant materials. These materials were grown according to Randomized Block Experimental Design as 3 replications in Bornova Ecological Conditions in 2016-2017 wheat growing season. Plant height, spike length, peduncle length, fertile tiller number, spike number perm2, spikelet number per spike, grain number per spike, grain weight per spike, spike index, grain yield, thousand grain weight and test weight were measured as agronomic parameters in the populations and the lines. The results of the study showed that there were significant differences between the populations and lines. The combination 129 x 4 (626.7 kg/da) were featured among the F5 populations in terms of grain yield. Also, the combination 129 x 3 (36.3 gr) and the combination of 129 x 4 (36.2 gr) had the highest thousand grain weight values among the F5 populations. The combinations 129 x 3 (80.4 kg/hl) and 129 x 4 (80.0 kg/hl) were the highest values in terms of test weight in the F5 populations. Furthermore, the combination 19-2 (395.5 kg/da) for yield, 20-8 (46.2 gr) and 21-4 (45.0 gr) for thousand grain weight, 22-1 (76.2 kh/hl) and 19-2 (75.3 kg/hl) for test weight showed higher performance in the F9 lines belong to Cumhuriyet x Basribey cross. These populations and lines were considered as promising materials and decided to transfer next generations.
