Investigation of the effect of hard core spun yarn properties on improving the tenacity and abrasion properties of knitted fabrics

Project no. 21488 · Status: Kapanmış · 2019

Summary

The core yarn production is very popular yarn spinning method in recent years as it provides important advantages in terms of spinning, weaving, knitting and end-use products. Due to the flexbility of ring spinning and easy mounting of core yarn aparatus, usually the ring core spun method is preferred for core yarn spinning. On the other hand, generally the friction spinning method is preferred for core-spun technical yarns. The core spun yarns are classified as hard core-spun yarn, soft core-spun yarn and composite yarn, depending on the properties of the material used in the core. In this study, Ne 20/1 hard core yarns were produced (sheath material: cotton, polyester, viscose and modal fibers; core material: PET (FDY, texturized) filament yarns) in Merlin (Pinter) sample ring spinning machine. In addition, Ne 20/1 classic ring yarns were produced using the same raw materials for comparison. Yarn strength, yarn unevenness and yarn hairiness of the yarns were measured. In addition, single jersey knit fabric samples were knitted and their bursting strength values were evaluated. The test results were statistically analyzed.
