DEVELOPMENT AND CHARACTERIZATION OF COMPOSITE ELECTRODES MODIFIED WITH METAL/METAL OXIDE FOR THE VOLTAMMETRIC DETERMINATION OF CAPSAICIN

Project no. 32352 · Status: Kapanmış (Yayın bekleniyor) · 2024

Summary

In this study, composite electrodes were developed by combining graphene oxide or reduced graphene oxide synthesized via the Brodie method—with electrochemically synthesized poly(cresol red). These composites were further modified with various metals/metal oxides (Au, Cu/CuO, Ni/NiO, and Co₃O₄) and used for the voltammetric detection of capsaicin in phosphate buffer solution at pH 7.0. Among the modified electrodes, Co₃O₄/GO/PCR/GCE showed the highest electrochemical activity toward capsaicin oxidation. The effects of cresol red monomer concentration, Co²⁺ ion concentration, and the number of electropolymerization cycles on electrode performance were systematically investigated. Under optimized conditions, square wave voltammetry exhibited a linear response in the capsaicin concentration range of 0.4 mmol/L -11.0 mmol/L with a detection limit of 0.05 mmol/L. The morphological, chemical, and electrochemical properties of the developed electrode were characterized using SEM, XPS, and EIS techniques. The results demonstrate the potential of Co₃O₄/GO/PCR/GCE as a sensitive and effective platform for the electrochemical detection of capsaicin.
