Özet
Despite its strong structure, the mandible is one of the most fractured bones in maxillofacial trauma due to its prominent position in the body and its anatomical structure. Impacted wisdom tooth in the mandible weaken the jaw during trauma, increasing the risk of mandible fracture. Odontogenic cystic lesions are generally associated with impacted third molar teeth, and this rate has been reported as 80% in studies. Mandibular 3rd molar teeth increases the risk of fracture formation. In various studies, the presence of mandibular third molar teeth in the fracture line has been associated with angulus mandibular fractures. However, there are few studies evaluating the effect of impacted third molar teeth associated with odontogenic cystic lesions on the fragility of the angulus region. Due to the limitations of clinical studies in human jaws, the results obtained with the 3D modeling technique that can mimic the real jaw are important in terms of taking protective measures. Finite element analysis is a non-invasive method that provides the complex biomechanical properties of the human mandible with different parameters and shows beneficial results. The aim of this project is to investigate the effect of the presence of mandibular third molar associated with odontogenic cystic lesions on the fragility of the mandibular angulus region in mandibular traumas using finite element analysis. All the remaining variables in our project are identical, a total of 4 mandibular models, 1 in which the impacted mandibular right wisdom tooth is healthy and 3 in which the same tooth is associated with odontogenic cysts in incremental expenditures, has been modeled in 3 dimensions in digital environment with "Rhino" computer software. Then, the response of the angulus regions of the buccal and lingual bones on both sides to the applied forces was examined by applying 2000 N force to the models from mandible left and right corpus Keywords: impacted mandibular third molar; mandible; finite element analysis
