PHARMACOGNOSIC STUDIES ON 4 DIFFERENT LAMIACEAE PLANTS

Project no. 20575 · Status: Kapanmış (Yayın bekleniyor) · 2019

Summary

Within the scope of this project prepared with a multidisciplinary approach with the contributions of Ege University Faculty of Pharmacy Department of Pharmacognosy and Biochemistry Department, antioxidant activities (DPPH and ABTS tests) of methanol extracts prepared from the above-ground parts of Stachys lavandulifolia, Salvia verticillata, Phlomis herba venti sp. pungens and Phlomis sieheona plants were measured and total phenolic substance and total flavonoid matter were quantified. Accordingly, it has been determined that each of our plants in the study has antioxidant activity. In addition, the fatty acid compositions of these plants were determined using gas chromatography method. Accordingly, saturated and unsaturated fatty acids were determined in their contents and their relations with their activities were examined. Again, the plant methanol extracts; The effects on cell viability were investigated in a hydrogen peroxide-induced oxidative stress model created using a human neuroblastoma cell line. Each plant was found to be significantly effective, which increased the importance of our plants. It is obvious that our study results will also shed light on possible future studies.
