The Alien-Invasive Fish Species in the Coast of Aegean Sea and Their Effects on Fishery
Project no. 1104 · Status: Kapanmış · 2017
Summary
This study presents some exotic fish diversity and catch per unit effort values of target, non-target, discard and exotic fish from small scale fishery along the southern Aegean Sea. Lagocephalus sceleatus, Pterois miles, Sargocentron rubrum, Siganus sp. and a Lessepsian blue crab (Portunus segnis) were caught in the Aegean Sea. Siganus sp. and blue crab sells in the fish markets. However, there were only a few exotic species in total fishing amount and seasonal CPUE was the highest average with 0.7 ±0.3 kg.1000 m-1 gillnet in autumn. This value indicated that it was 72 times lesser than total seasonal CPUE. No doubt, we expect the higher catch rates in terms of exotic fish in near next time due to the process of tropicalization of the Mediterranean Sea.
