Summary

When considering the telecommunication sector as a whole, the detection of potential future complexities and the reduction of potential costs are quite important. Failure to detect complexities and an increase in costs can lead to significant problems. In previous studies, many mathematical models and techniques have been developed to reduce costs. Considering the high cost of investment in fiber optic cables, the costs in this area emerge as significantly important. Therefore, the placement of information packets sent through fiber optic cables holds great importance. Technological advancements in fiber optic networks and the decrease in functionality over time indicate the necessity of continued research in this field. In this study, new models have been determined based on the Improved Binary Integer Programming Model of the previously introduced Band Collocation Problem (BCP) in the literature. BCP complexity analysis was performed. Mathematical models generally assume unlimited resource usage, but resources are limited in real life. Therefore, resource constraints become important. The data for the study was obtained from the BCP library. Comparisons were made between data obtained for the existing model and the newly developed model. Approximate solutions have been attempted to be found using Genetic Algorithms.
