Genes Associated with Milk Yield in Some Dairy Breeds Modeling with Machine Learning
Project no. 22691 · Status: Kapanmış · 2021
Summary

Today, the use of machine learning algorithms to solve bioinformatics problems has attracted the attention of researchers. With the developing computer technologies, data mining and analysis methods have become widespread. However, the large size of the data makes the analysis of data sets difficult. In this direction, data processing can be carried out with some new computer techniques such as artificial neural networks, support vector machines and machine learning.

Artificial intelligence applications are modeled on living systems and the human brain, which aim to artificially reproduce the intelligent behavior of beings in nature and make these behaviors perfect. In addition to giving products in different areas of daily life, it is used for purposes such as estimation, classification and clustering. Its main areas are; Techniques such as expert systems, genetic algorithms, fuzzy logic, artificial neural networks, machine learning are called artificial intelligence technologies.

Artificial intelligence computational methods are designed to process very large data sets and can be used to explain such relationships. The large size of the data makes the analysis of data sets difficult. In this direction, machine learning algorithms such as artificial neural networks and support vector machines are widely used in data analysis and prediction.

In this study, prolactin gene, which is associated with milk yield in some dairy cattle breeds raised in our country, gene/genotype frequencies obtained from Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) sequences were modeled with Artificial Neural Network, which is one of the machine learning methods.

Keywords: Machine Learning, Artificial Neural Networks, Prolactin, Milk Yield
