SYNTHESIS AND THERMAL PROPERTIES OF EUTECTIC HYDRATED SALTS FROM STABLE PHASE CHANGE MATERIALS
Project no. 21121 · Status: Kapanmış · 2019
Summary
In this thesis study within the scope of the graduation project, eutectic metal hydrate salt pairs were investigated as phase change materials (PCM) for thermal energy storage and heat regulation. Metal hydrate salts have the ability to store energy due to their phase change properties. At the same time, due to their higher thermal conductivity compared to organic phase change materials. they may use in many application areas. Eutectic pairs are the mixture having the lowest melting point in binary mixtures, and the metal hydrate salts in the mixture change phase together at this low temperature. In this study, the eutectic points of different hydrate salt pairs were calculated according to Schroder's equation and phase graphs were drawn. As a result of the drawn graphics and calculations, their compositions providing the eutectic point were determined. Previous experimental applications and synthesis process with selected hydrate salts were investigated. As a result of the calculations and investigations, thermal properties of phase change materials formed by different pairs were determined. A literature survey has been conducted on the properties, synthesis, and eutectic points of eutectic hydrate salts, which are phase change materials, and are evaluated and discussed as a result of the calculations. A chart was created to determine the eutectic point temperature and the necessary calculations for the hydrate salts to form eutectic pairs. It was decided whether the couples were compatible by looking at the created graphic. The properties, synthesis, literature study, and calculations of the eutectic hydrate salts from phase change materials have been evaluated and discussed.
