Project no. 33491 · Status: Kapanmış (Yayın bekleniyor) · 2026
Summary

The aim of this study is to determine the contribution of artificial intelligence (AI) tools training to the development of prospective teachers’ educator identities. The literature emphasizes the need for the educational use of AI tools and the importance of supporting the professional development of prospective teachers. Designed as a holistic single-case study, the research was conducted with 32 prospective primary school teachers. Within the scope of the project, a six-week, 12-hour training program covering AI ethics and tools, effective prompt writing, lesson and activity design, storybook creation, video production, and educational assessment was implemented during the spring semester of the 2025–2026 academic year. Data were collected using the Generative AI Literacy Scale for Learning, a homework evaluation rubric, and a structured teacher journal. Descriptive statistics and t-tests were used to analyze the quantitative data, while content analysis was used to analyze the qualitative data. The findings indicated that the training positively contributed to the development of prospective teachers’ educator identities. Prospective teachers reported improvements in areas such as material development, instructional design, time efficiency, and professional development. This study is expected to contribute to the literature on prospective teachers’ educator identities and the educational use of artificial intelligence.
