DETERMİNATİON OF SSR MARKERS RELATED TO YELLOW RUST RESİSTANCE ON CHROMOSOME 2A OF WHEAT (Triticum aestivum L.)
Project no. 26344 · Status: Kapanmış (Yayın bekleniyor) · 2022
Summary

Puccinia striiformis Westend. f. sp. tritici, which causes yellow rust disease, poses a serious risk to wheat production worldwide, including Turkey. In all important bread wheat growing areas of the world, serious yield losses occur when new virulent and aggressive yellow rust races emerge and existing resistance genes are broken. The use of resistant varieties with adult plant resistance against yellow rust is one of the most effective and environmentally friendly solutions to this problem. For this purpose, the doubled haploid population obtained from the "16CB-APR6 x Avoset S” cross consisting of 132 individuals was tested against Yr27, one of the wheat yellow rust race, during the adult plant period in the 2022-2023 growing season. As a result of the test, 86% (114 genotypes) of the genotypes in the population were resistant, 4% (5 genotypes) moderately resistant and 6% (8 genotypes) were susceptible. A linkage map was created using Kosambi map function and ICIM-ADD and IM-ADD statistical models were used for QTL analysis. As a result of the mapping, a significant QTL (q.Yr.DH.-1-1) was identified on chromosome 2A of wheat explaining 24.65% of the phenotypic variance. This QTL region was identified as a major QTL region for yellow rust resistance in wheat.
