DETERMINATION OF THE CHARACTERISTICS OF VARIED BIOMASS SOURCES AT DIFFERENT PYROLYSIS TEMPERATURE VALUES
Project no. 638 · Status: Kapanmış · 2017
Summary
Nowadays, the efficient use of biologically sourced raw materials and the production of various products from these sources have become a major focus of attention. Especially, their use in renewable energy production and the availability of various chemicals increased the importance of biomass raw materials. Lignocellulosic biomass resources come to the fore due to their relatively low cost, availability and feature of being renewable. Today, it is seen that agricultural wastes are mostly tried to be disposed by burning. However, in this traditional method, while 10-15% of the biomass material is transformed as heat, the remaining part is released into the air in the form of gas uncontrolled. This situation causes the release of toxic gases that cause environmental pollution to the atmosphere. Although this method is not sensitive to the environment, it is not considered economical when compared to the conversion methods. With the use of a modern thermochemical transformation method (gasification, pyrolysis, etc.), it is important to apply both economical and environmentally friendly processes by making the recycling of urban wastes, agricultural wastes and similar organic wastes. Within the scope of this project; The changes in the characteristic properties of the samples of pine shavings, switchgrass, cotton stalks, sesame straws and chicken waste at 300, 400, 500, 600, 700 and 800 ° C temperature values related to the pyrolysis process trials were examined; Gas production efficiencies at different temperatures for each sample, calorific values according to gas chromatography analysis, total organic carbon content and change rates, moisture-volatile solid-ash content-fixed carbon amounts and thermal values obtained by bomb calorimeter analysis. According to the results obtained, it is thought that the pyrolysis process performed at 500-600 °C is sufficient for obtaining optimum product yield. The results obtained with the analysis made on the raw sample play a major role in the selection of the raw material to be used in the pyrolysis trials. This study presents the characteristics of five different raw materials before and after pyrolysis, providing guidance for future pyrolysis trials.
