Determination of Fish with Skeletal Deformity According to Swimming Behavior and Speed in Aquaculture Enterprises
Project no. 1064 · Status: Kapanmış · 2018
Summary
The appearance of skeletal abnormalities in the cultivated fish is one of the problems that adversely affect aquaculture businesses in terms of economic, biological and animal health. These fish, which do not have economic value, are regularly identified and manually removed from production tanks or production areas. The visual selection and manual removal process used in all enterprises for the separation of deformed fish also causes a significant loss of time and labor for businesses. Fish with skeletal deformation show differences in both growth and behavioral aspects, and studies on some species reveal that deformed fish can be detected from swimming speeds. In this research, it is aimed to develop suitable equipment and mechanization for the fast, easy separation and longitudinalness of the sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax L., 1758) fish, which are grown, by using the swimming speeds and behaviors of the deformed individuals. In the results obtained, it was determined that deformed fish had a flow rate of 0,5 m/sec and above, which affected the swimming activities of deformed fish, and that these types of fish were left behind by 0,8 m/sec and above compared to normal group fish. With this study, a patent application was made through EBILTEM, and an important device for fisheries enterprises was revealed.
