Summary

This study aimed to compare traditional assessment forms and digitally implemented analytic rubrics in terms of validity and reliability for evaluating clinical competencies in predoctoral dental education. The study included fifth-year students who participated in multidisciplinary clinical training during the 2024–2025 academic year. Student performances in provisional restoration, amalgam removal, and Class I composite restoration procedures were evaluated using both traditional forms and analytic rubrics generated via the KEYPS software. Internal consistency of the assessment tools was calculated using Cronbach’s alpha coefficients, while content validity was determined based on expert opinion through the Lawshe method. Inter-rater reliability was assessed using the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC). The findings indicated that analytic rubrics demonstrated superior psychometric properties compared to traditional forms, particularly in terms of internal consistency and content validity. Furthermore, digital rubric-based evaluations enabled more detailed, standardized, and traceable assessment of student performance.
