Effects of Yucca Extract and Humate Addition to Broiler Chicken Feed on Performance, Slaughter Characteristics, Meat Quality, Blood Biochemistry, Nutrient Digestibility, Intestinal Morphology, and Microflora

Project no. 24176 · Status: Kapanmış · 2023

Summary

This study investigated the effects of Yucca extract and humate as feed additives on broiler performance, gut health, immunity, and blood biochemical parameters; 240 male chicks were divided into four groups—control (no additives), 300 mg/kg humate, 100 mg/kg Yucca extract, and their combination (300 mg/kg humate + 100 mg/kg Yucca extract)—and evaluated over 42 days for live weight, feed intake, feed conversion ratio (FCR), carcass yield, gut microbiota, nutrient digestibility, antioxidant enzyme activities, immune, and thyroid hormone levels; the combination group achieved the highest live weight (2871.13 g), feed intake (4711.56 g), FCR (1.61), carcass (2049.21 g, 69.0%), breast (29.80%), and thigh (23.90%) yields, lowest E. coli (2.00 log10 CFU/g), highest lactic acid bacteria (8.14 log10 CFU/g), antioxidant enzymes (SOD: 1350.36 U/ml, CAT: 124.23 U/ml, GPX: 100.28 U/L), IgA (10.98 mg/dL), IgM (8.28 mg/dL), T3 (1.41), and T4 (10.09) levels, while reducing cholesterol, triglycerides, liver enzymes (AST, ALT, LDH), and oxidative stress markers (TOS, MDA); the synergistic effects of Yucca extract and humate optimized growth, feed convertson ratio, gut health, and immunity, offering significant potential for sustainable and economically viable broiler production.
